Molecular Weight18.6 kDa
Endotoxin Levels< 0.1 ng/µg of protein (<1EU/µg)
Biological ActivityDetermined by the dose-dependent co-stimulation (with human IL-4) of MC/9 cells. The ED50 was found to be ≤ 2.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ≥ 5 x 105 units/mg.
Species ReactivityMonkey, Mouse, Human, Bacteria, Virus
Buffer5mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.2
ReconstitutionCentrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in 5mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.2 to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
Stability and StorageThe lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 1 month and at 4°C for 6 months. Reconstituted working aliquots are stable for 1 week at 2°C to 8°C and for 12 months at -20°C to -80°C.
SynonymsIL10; CSIF; TGIF; GVHDS; IL-10; IL10A
DescriptionInterleukin-10 (IL-10), originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF), is an 18.5 kDa protein that shares over 80% homology with the Epstein-Barr virus protein BCRFI. The reported biological activities of IL-10, which may be inter-related, include inhibition of macrophage mediated cytokine synthesis, suppression of the delayed type hyper-sensitivity response, and stimulation of the TH2 cell response which results in elevated antibody production.
